  • Limit the need for different coloured cars to drive on the same road: This isn’t always possible – particularly in the later game – but try and limit the need for different coloured cars to drive on the same road, as this just creates more congestion.
  • To achieve this, focus on creating roads with as short a distance as possible, rather than making them look nice.
  • Try and create the shortest distance between warehouse and home: You want to allow your cars to make their pickups with as much ease as possible to ensure the warehouses don’t overflow.
  • Mini Motorways: Tips, Cheats, and Strategies If any of them turn into a big red circle that slowly fills up, it means that your warehouse has overfilled capacity, and you’ll need to quickly find a way to get more traffic of the same colour to the warehouse. You can see their capacity by checking the number of pips above each warehouse. The game ends if any of your warehouses get too full. The aim of the game is to get as high a score as possible, so keep traffic flowing smoothly.

Love your part of the world. Finally, you get a point each time a car successfully makes a collection at a warehouse. I have intensely missed Wellington and NZ since we visited a few years ago. The big square roundabout around the Basin Reserve! Also, maybe the wind could periodically pick up and blow cars off the road? D Lots of mountains near big curled in bay. Lastly, isn’t the DPC team based in Wellington? I thought its topology and roadways were pretty cool. Maybe there could even be a timing mechanic with the canal locks? ) Panama - The port, bay and canal all form a pretty interesting layout. I don’t know how you’d factor that sort of verticality into the game, but maybe it’d just be interesting to meditate on.Īlright, elsewhere.

They were nigh impossible for my novice-ass manual-transmission driving self (and it was raining, naturally!) The cafe and lookout structures at the top are stunning. Trollstigen - Incredibly engineered and challenging mountain switchbacks. I found out later one of the tunnel sections actually passes over an older tunnel-Who does that? Norway’s system of fjords and tunnels is crazy and beautiful! Hardanger bridge and Vallavik tunnel - A stunning bridge that connects to a giant ultraviolet-lit roundabout in the middle of a mountain! We turned around and drove through it three times it was so surprising and cool. Lofoten peninsula - Intricately connected fjord-heavy archipelago near the arctic circle in the far north. The interesting bits tend not to have clear cities attached to them, but I figure you’re probably enough of a geo and roadway nerd that you’d dig these anyway (if you haven’t already!). I'm happy to get into more technical detail if anybody wants, but you need not wow me with huge population numbers or impressive existing infrastructure! I'd love to hear more individual and personalised reasons why you might think x location would make a great Motorways map.

We have a big list of cities that are in various stages of exploration, but I was really curious to hear what our actual player community had to say.įeel free to ask if you have any questions about the map selection process! There tends to be a lot of brainstorming and prototyping first. We don't tend to have cities overlap between the two games, solely to keep the variety nice and spicy for everybody. We are after all imagining whole new city layouts here. We don't care as much about population or existing transit systems as you might think.

This is partially because Mini Metro and Mini Motorways have such dedicated global fanbases-we want players from everywhere to be able to see how we've attempted to tackle their local transit challenges. We want our maps to represent every corner of the world. Like the above, these provide natural barriers for players to have to work around. Are there mountains? A staggered coastline? Peninsulas? These all provide great challenges. I know in the past I've seen comments from folks with some great suggestions here, and while I've been pretty successful at grabbing screenshots in the past, I figured it might be fun to just pop up a post and see if anyone had any strong contenders.įor those who are curious what we look for when considering cities for maps, here's a non-exhaustive but still hopefully helpful list: The most-suggested cities over the past few months have been Seattle, Chongqing, Madrid, and Rio de Janeiro. Hope you all had an excellent weekend! I'm putting together my agenda to bring to the rest of the team for this month's player feedback meeting and one of the things I always do is put together a portfolio of suggestions players have sent in about which cities they'd like to see as maps in Mini Metro and Mini Motorways both.
